Bordeaux city is very famous for is cepage, such as Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, sauvignon, sémillon and muscadelle (mainly). It produces red wine as much as white and rosé.

Château Pontet-Canet

Existing since the 17th century, Château Pontet-Canet was classified Grand Cru under the govern of Napoléon III in 1855.

 

Today, this very well-known wine is elaborated by a biologic and biodynamic agriculture and very much appreciated for his respect of nature and environment.

Château Pape Clément

In 1864 this wine estate received the ministerial price during the competition of « the most incredible vineyard »

After some dramatic periods of storm that destroyed the entire vineyard, the castle finally rebuilt himself and has been rewarded by the noble classification of « Grands Crus Classés de Graves in 1959 »

The incredible « savoir faire » of the château makes the wine complex and specific.

Clos d'Alzeto

This estate is the highest vineyards in Corsica, at nearly 600m. After a lengthy drive up from Ajaccio, around dozens of hairpin bends, you're rewarded with a spectacular landscape of vineyards climbing up a rocky peak.

 

The Albertini family have been tending vineyards here since 1800, focusing on the quality of their products.

Domaine de Torraccia

Between the mountains and near Porto Vecchio. Torraccia was planted from scratch 45 years ago by one of the fathers of modern Corsican wine, Christian Imbert. Today, at 84, the patriarch has just about ceded control to his son Marc.

 

Corsica is not renowned for wines that age well, but Torraccia is the exception: it's Oriou wines especially, a mix of organic niellucciu and sciaccarellu grapes, are absolutely wonderful 20 years on. People holidaying nearby can come and fill a bottle direct from the vat for €3.40 a litre. Don’t miss it.

Domaine Saparale

From his Domaine in the south of the island, vineyards stretch every way you look, over hills and mountains. Philippe inherited a 1,000-hectare estate where wine hadn't been made for over 50 years, but today it produces some of the region's best.

The Domaine has its own hamlet and an olive mill. It is so calm and authentic, a must see.

​The cellar Bestheim in Bennwihr.

Bestheim is a cooperative of wine in the heart of the vineyards of Bennwihr since 1765. Bestheim offers different types of wine like Crémant, a speciality of Alsace.

 

There is also the Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

 

We recommend you to visit the vineyards of Bestheim and try the Cuvée Grand Prestige Rosé 2014 elected the best effervescent of the World. If you are in Bennwihr take time to visit this wonderful and typical town.

The cellar Wolfberger in Eguisheim.

Wolfberger is a cooperative of wine created in 1902 in Eguisheim. Wolfberger create several wines like Crémant, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Rosé. They also create biological wines for the sustainable development.

Wolfberger really respect the tradition and the history of wine in Alsace.

 

We recommend you to take the time and visit the beautiful vineyards and cellar of Wolfberger and do not hesitate to try the fabulous wines of Wolfberger.

Where to stay?
